Student’s internship 2013
The practice to get support for internship position from the faculty is following:
- Student applies for the internship support from the faculty.
- The student who has been granted the support can search freely for suitable internship position.
Student has to find the internship position themselves. University and some other public organizations will offer some internship positions for the students to apply to. The student can decide whether he/she applies an internship position at the university or elsewhere.
Applying
The period for applying of the practice support is 12.11.2012 – 10.12.2012. Student applies for the support with a form that is available here and at faculty office. The amount of the support is 1300 € and it is paid for the employer. Faculty can give the support for 97 students. Students from every department are able to apply for support. Departments will rank the applicants.
The support is not given to a student who has already worked as a trainee or for example as a research assistant. Among others, following factors will affect the admitting of the support:
- lack of the work experience of student’s own study field
- motivation letter
- presented employment plan
- progress and success of studies.
Applications (also the ones send by mail) must be at the faculty office no later than 10.12.2012 at 14.00.
Decisions
The departments will make the presentations of the recipients of the support of their students and the faculty will make a decision on the matter at the end of January. The Study Advisor informs the ones who will get the practice support and also about all the internship position announcements the faculty has got.
The student who has been granted the practice support must look for an internship position by the end of April. Student must secure from the faculty the suitability of the internship position, if it is not one of the internship position announced by the faculty. After student has received an internship position a separate training commitment is made between the faculty and the employer. The student can ask for more time for justifiable reasons to find the internship position. If the student who has gotten the support has not returned the training commitment to the faculty by the end of April, the student is considered to have given up the support and it is returned to the faculty. Faculty will inform about the second application round if it will be organized.
About training job
The length of the internship must be 2 – 6 months. The internship must support the student's own field of study. The tasks in the internship must be of such nature, that significant skills are not required, for the purpose in the internship is learning. Because of this, trainee's minimum employment can be under all the level definitions. The minimum wage which is paid to the trainee has to be at least 1134 €/month, which fills the employment condition of Kela. The trainee must be employee for the whole time of the internship and the employer cannot pay the salary as a scholarship.
Other internship
If you will not get or you don't want to apply the funding from the faculty, you may still look for internship position for yourself. If the internship supports your studies, you may have some credits transferred to your degree. Ask about the procedure from the department.
