Geography Graduate Program

 

Geography Graduate Program is a nation-wide program for doctoral students specialized at the field of Geography. It is coordinated by the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Turku, but works in collaboration with its partner’s, namely, Department of Geosciences and Geography (University of Helsinki), Department of Geographical and Historical Studies (University of Joensuu), Department of Geography (University of Oulu), Department of Regional Studies (University of Tampere) and Regional Studies (University of Vaasa). Its functional aim is to provide diversifies range of teaching for the doctoral students preparing their dissertation at the fields of human and physical geography. In order to fulfill the high standards of doctoral training the program improves and supports the doctoral training process and publication skills of students by offering annually three to four quality intensive courses concentrating on themes related to the above-mentioned fields of the program. Geography Graduate Program hence aims to produce a high-quality research and expertise suitable for the needs outside the academic environment. Its fields of expertise are at the study of environmental change, urban studies, regional development and methodological issues related to the Geography.
