Objectives and Benefits

The main objective of the Action is to find new uses of hen egg in order to exploit the outputs even beyond the traditional food value of eggs, including biomedicals, nutraceuticals and ovo-biotechnologies.

The secondary objectives of the Action are:

• develop methods and technologies for the fractionation of egg components
• promote a new non-food branch for the egg industry
• illuminate the health-promoting effects of bioactive components of eggs
• slow and even stop the rapidly declining per capita consumption of eggs
• support the tendencies to improve the animal welfare and environment

The benefits of the Action are:

• value added products made of the hen eggs
• new technological applications
• new possibilities for the agriculture and rural areas
• benefits to the public health
• increase in viability of the egg production
