Studying

Basic degrees in geography are the Bachelor of Science and the Master of Science. The Bachelor's degree consists of 180 ECTS credits and the Master's degree of 120 ECTS credits. The Master of Science Degree is made up of the main subject, in which area the student writes a thesis, and one or more minor subjects. The degree is composed of basic studies, intermediate studies, advanced studies and other studies which include language studies.

The numbers graduating in geography have stabilised at about 20 per annum, and the ratio on graduates per teacher in geography is among the highest in the faculty. The number of years taken to complete a Master's degree averaged 6.2, the shortest in the faculty. In addition to students studying geography as their main subject, the department has also taken 30 - 40 minor subject students each year. A majority of these come from biology, social sciences and the humanities.
