Studying Chemistry

Currently, there are about 300 undergraduate chemistry students and about the same number of students doing chemistry as their secondary subject. The chemistry study programme takes in 65 new students each year.

According to the Bologna Declaration, the chemistry study programme is gradually moving over to the two-cycle system. Already starting in the academic year 2005-2006, the first and second year studies will follow the new system. At the same time we will move over to the usage of the credit system (op or ECTS) and all courses are allocated with ECTS units according to their workload. In general, the workload of one academic year (1 600 h) corresponds to 60 ECTS units. In addition, starting from the autumn 2005, the academic year will be divided into four periods of eight study weeks (two periods in the autumn and two in the spring).
