Laboratory of Materials Chemistry and Chemical Analysis

There are four main, largely independent areas of research in the unit: functional materials and thin films, luminescent and solid state materials, analytical applications of electrogenerated chemiluminescence, and organometallic catalysis. The focus is on basic research directed at obtaining a fundamental understanding of chemical principles. The unit also has a tradition of instrument construction, which broadens the range of available experimental techniques.

The staff of the Laboratory consists of 4 full professors, 1 university lecturer and several university teachers, researchers and post-graduate students. At the moment, the Laboratory is involved in two Graduate Schools of the Ministry of Education for the Ph.D. students.

For students obtaining their Master’s degree the Laboratory gives thorough introduction to modern materials, their characterization, applications, to nanoscience and nanotechnology, and to the theory of chemical analysis. In their studies they can specialize in materials chemistry, analytic chemistry, inorganic chemistry or physical chemistry.
